Rental General Terms and Conditions
ARTICLE 1 – VEHICLE CONDITION
The vehicle is delivered in perfect working order, the meters and indicators are sealed and the seals cannot be removed or violated, otherwise the rental will be paid in the fine of 500 kms per day 1 km 0.15 € + VAT).
ARTICLE 2 – CONSERVATION AND REPAIR
All repairs caused, either by normal use, or by negligence of the customer, or due to an accidental cause, will be the responsibility of the customer and performed by sunset rent a car. the customer will be charged the amount of repairs in the minimum amount of €200.00 per piece.
ARTICLE 3 – RENTAL, SECURITY AND EXTENSION
The customer undertakes to use the rented vehicle, only for his personal use and with limited circulation to Terceira Island. If the customer wants to associate a second driver, he must hire the second driver to the vehicle, paying a single fee of €29.50 (up to two drivers can be added). The rental and security prices are determined by the tables in force. The deposit cannot be used for an extension of the rental in order to avoid protests and in case the customer wants to keep the vehicle for a period longer than that indicated in his contract, he must pay the additional rental amount 48 hours before the expiry of the rental in progress under penalty of being exposed to legal persecution for the deviation of the vehicle or breach of trust.
ARTICLE 4 – INSURANCE
Liability insurance is included in the rental prices. The customer is responsible for all damages caused or damages to the vehicle, as well as for the days of immobilization, according to the category of the rented vehicle and according to the tariffs in our table.
ARTICLE 5 – PAYMENT TERMS
The customer will have to present a credit card at the beginning of the rental, or else, he will have to leave €500.00 in cash as a guarantee of the rental.
ARTICLE 6 – VEHICLE RETURN
The customer, in addition to having the obligation to return the vehicle in perfect working order, at the end of the rental, undertakes not to abandon it. This delivery must be made to a Sunset rent a car employee. If, under any circumstances, it is materially impossible for the customer to fulfill this obligation by his own means, the vehicle will be transported to our headquarters, the costs being the responsibility of the customer. In case the vehicle is not operational, the daily immobilization rate corresponding to the daily rate will be applied. Fuel is not included in the price. The vehicle will be delivered with a full tank, which must be filled up at the end of the rental, at the customer’s expense. if not, a refueling fee of €30.00 + missing fuel will apply.
ARTICLE 7 – RESPONSIBILITIES
The customer is solely responsible for the contraventions and cases raised against him.
ARTICLE 8 – MINIMUM RENTAL PERIOD

ARTICLE 9 – COMPETENCES
Doubts about the interpretation of the clauses of this document, as well as questions arising from their application, are the exclusive competence of the Judicial Court of Angra do Heroísmo.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
PRICES INCLUDE
Civil liability insurance the customer is responsible for all damages or losses caused to the rented vehicle as well as the days of immobilization of the same. Government rates and fees are subject to change without notice. All values shown include VAT at the legal rate in force.
RESERVATIONS
Even if there is no negligence or deliberate violation of the terms and conditions mentioned in the rental agreement, the customer will be responsible for damages caused by collision and rollover of the sunset rent a car vehicle. It is also the customer’s responsibility to pay for damages caused to the Sunset rent a car vehicle. This coverage does not cover damage or loss of keys, fuel misconceptions and damage to extra equipment.
The rental terms, delivery and return dates constitute a commitment.
BASIC COVERAGE
Even if there is no negligence or deliberate violation of the terms and conditions mentioned in the rental agreement, the customer will be responsible for the total or partial theft of the Sunset rent a car vehicle. in case of fire or damage caused by acts of vandalism is the responsibility of the customer. It is also the customer’s responsibility to pay for damages caused to the Sunset rent a car vehicle. If the customer has previously contracted protection coverage, the amount of the mandatory deductible may be reduced (according to current rates), exceeding the deductible is the responsibility of the customer. This coverage does not cover damage or loss of keys, fuel misconceptions and damage to extra equipment.
PREMIUM COVERAGE
Although it includes partial coverage for collision and theft (basic coverage and plus coverage) it is the customer’s responsibility to use the Sunset rent a car vehicle. It is mandatory to use the vehicle within the terms and conditions of the rental agreement. This coverage does not cover damage or loss of keys, fuel and extra equipment damage.
GLASS COVERAGE, HEADLIGHTS, RIMS AND TIRES
It exempts the driver(s) for damage to windows, headlights, rims and tires that occur under normal driving conditions. This coverage has a cost that varies depending on the groups presented (www.sunsetcar.pt).
PAYMENT TERMS
The estimated cost of the rental must be paid at the time of delivery of the vehicle and the final adjustment will be made at the end of the rental on the value of the deposit.
FUEL
It is not included in the prices. The vehicle will be delivered with a full tank, which must be filled up at the end of the rental, and at the customer’s expense, otherwise a refueling service charge of €30.00 is applied, as well as the respective cost of the missing fuel.
DRIVER’S AGE
Minimum 21 years old, with 1 year of driving experience (when under 21 years old, you must have at least one year of experience and can only hire categories E & C).
DROP IN / DROP OFF
A one-time fee of €11.70 applies even if the delivery area is different from the pick-up.
WASHING
A cleaning fee of €15.80 is charged, however, if the interior of the vehicle has marks on the upholstery, a complete cleaning will be necessary, applying a cleaning fee for upholstery and interiors in the amount of €100.00.
BABY SEAT
5,95€ Per day.
FUEL DEPOSIT
Group E, C, CP, D, deposit in the amount of €138.00. Groups P, PP, A, Ks, deposit in the amount of €196.00. at the end of the reservation, and the condition of the fuel tank is verified, the deposit is returned, within a maximum period of 5 working days within the Unicre network.
