Security Deposit and Deductibles

WHEN PURCHASING THE PREMIUM PACKAGE, IS IT NECESSARY TO LEAVE A DEPOSIT?

Yes, even if you have purchased the Premium package, you will be required to pay a fuel deposit, depending on the group you have selected. At the end of the booking, the fuel tank will be checked by a Sunset rent a car employee (Check Out vs Check In), or at the end when the fuel is checked by a SUNSET representative, with the exception of MOTORCYCLES where the deposit will be €50.00 within the Unicre network. At the end of the booking you will receive confirmation of the deposit by email.

WHAT IS A FRANCHISE AND WHAT IS IT FOR?

When you sign the hire agreement, an excess (1) is blocked. This is blocked via the driver’s credit card linked to the contract. If there is no further damage when the car is returned, the blocked amount is also unblocked. If the vehicle is returned with additional damage, Sunset rent a car will charge the amount budgeted for the repair + daily vehicle standstill fee, except in cases of negligence where any cover purchased is cancelled and the customer is liable for the full amount of the repair. (1) minimum retention according to group booked.

IS THERE ANY WAY TO ELIMINATE THE FRANCHISE?

Yes. In Groups E, C, CP and D, by taking out Premium cover you can reduce the excess to zero (0), provided that these are not considered to be negligent driving which invalidates the purchase of the extra cover, and the customer will therefore be liable for all losses to SUNSET as well as to all third parties involved in the accident/damage.
